There appears to have been an increase in litter around the estate over the last few weeks. The Estate has always been quite tidy with only some litter previously found sometimes around construction areas. One of our residents regularly collects litter on her morning walk. She began her walk along Bellvista Blvd from the roundabout at Stornaway Avenue up to Caloundra Rd but she had to finish at Bellcarra Place as the four plastic shopping bags she had were all full of litter that she had picked up!
Is there a coincidence between the litter problem worsening and the opening of a new fast food outlet on Caloundra Rd?
One vehicle was seen to heading down Bellvista Blvd when a soft drink can was thrown from it. Fortunately for residents but unfortunately for the driver there was a police car nearby and the offending driver was pulled over.
Speaking of police cars, police have been noted at both roundabouts and the junctions of Dumbarton Ave and Stornaway Avenue recently with speed cameras in use.
The photo to the left shows the framework for the new shops is now in place. Currently it appears the shopping centre answers to two names, “Bellvista Shopping Village” and “Bellvista Market Place”. Dr Regina Greenwood is opening a practice at the new centre and has become an advertiser with the Bellvista Connector. Her business card has her address as “Shop 3 Bellvista Market Place”.

The recent warm weather has given a spark to plant growth. The pathways and gardens are beginning to show some signs that spring isn’t too far away. The wattle trees along Bellvista Blvd are in full bloom letting every one know that “Spring is on the way”.
