A parent has reported on the BeCA Facebook page that she and her young family were swooped by a magpie which has again set up its nest in the middle of the roundabout at the intersection of Grampion Drive and Rawson St close by to Unity College.
Some blood was drawn. The parent was walking home with her son from Unity College and a young baby in a pram when attacked. Neither of the children was hurt.
This is exactly the same spot (and most likely the same bird) that made its home in the same spot last breeding season.
Hopefully the bird will not be stoned by school children as it was last year which only goes to make the magpie even more aggressive.
If last year is anything to go by, the magpie extended its swooping radius to include the pathway nearby along the western side of the bottom lake.
