Around lunchtime on Saturday Dec 5th the final fence from the northern side of the Stornaway Avenue, Bellvista Blvd roundabout was taken down and put on a truck to be transported away. From what was originally planned as a week long job to lay sewer and water upgrade pipelines under the roundabout, turned into a month long nightmare for Stockland, motorists and some local businesses.
The pipe laying works are now fully completed and the roundabout is again fully open for traffic.
Detour signs have gone and the traffic controllers have disappeared.
A business at the Bellvista Market Place reported a drop off in sales as prospective customers were dumbfounded by detours and failed to bother to attend appointments.
Hopefully all will be improved from now on.
It shouldn’t be too long until it is all dug up again to permit the laying of the upgraded water supply pipes along the same stretch of road. There should not be further road disruptions as the water pipes were able to be laid alongside the sewer upgrade under any roads.
