Councillor Anna Grosskreutz forwarded an email to BeCA on Friday regarding the latest meeting she was attending in relation to the airport.
The text appears below.
I am attending a meeting today with the Management of the Sunshine Coast Airport who manage the Caloundra Aerodrome to discuss the surge in complaints from residents about noise from helicopters and some aircraft, the Fly Neighbourly Agreement and hours of operation.
We will also discuss the helipads which were paid for by the ratepayers and if they are being used for their intended purpose of keeping helicopters away from residential areas.
I also want to know why and which aircraft are operating late into the evening and early hours of the morning.
If the council makes a decision to keep the Caloundra Aerodrome open and extend the leases as requested by the businesses there then that will require an expanded aviation precinct into the future with increased activity. I will request the council allow communities within current and potential future flightpaths to have a say.
