There were bargains aplenty for everyone, a very active ‘stage’ with almost non-stop entertainment, and rides, rides rides.
People seemed to have had a great time and the event should be a regular on the school calendar.
The Unity College Oval was all clear this morning before school started. You would not have believed it could be like this after all of yesterday’s activity.
Some further cleaning out of the watercourse just near the Dumbarton Ave/Bellvista Blvd roundabout was underway.
The strong south easterly wind blowing this morning is blanketing unfortunate nearby residents with dust again. With the weather the way it has been for the last 6 weeks no wonder there is dust everywhere. We badly need that 10mls of rain to settle it.
Drivers will need to keep their eyes peeled around the estate as we head into spring. Ducks and their young are not so familiar with road rules and tend to wander across Bellvista’s roads with their family in tow. Drivers are asked to drive defensively at this time of year.
This photo was taken this morning and shows one proud duck family of mum, dad and five ducklings enjoying the bottom lake.
A duck family was almost obliterated when a fast moving car mowed the whole family down a year or two ago on Dumbarton Ave. Hopefully there won’t be a repeat this year.

Walkers and bike riders are keeping their wits about them as we head into “Magpie Season”. Magpies can be extremely protective of their nest and surrounds during the breeding season and are known to swoop unsuspecting passers by. We have a page on this website on “Living With Magpies” under the “News and Events” Tab. You can access it HERE.
Parents should ask their children not to antagonize magpies by throwing stones at them as this makes them even more protective and concentrate on all children for their future attacks.
A feature of the “Living With Magpies” page is the list of hotspots for magpie attacks around the estate. This list will be updated as reports come in. You can email the website HERE if you have a hotspot to report.
Currently the page has 2011 hotspots only.
