50kph speed limit signs have been erected on Lomond Crescent near the Unity College Staff Carpark entry. Most likely this is to limit traffic speed around the new Shopping Centre when it partially opens in a few weeks’ time. The IGA isn’t due to open until December 6th.
However residents in Gairdner St hope the slower speed benefits will carry over to traffic in their street as well. Gairdner St is one of the wider streets on the estate and unfortunately some drivers use it as a speedway. Children frequently play here too so it may only be a matter of time until there is a serious accident.
Bellvista is a first home buyer’s estate and caters for many young families. Children will always play on the streets and Gairdner St is no different to any other street on the estate.
A serious accident is a no win situation for everyone, the person hurt in the incident, their family, the driver of the vehicle and their family!
Please, Slow Down On Bellvista Streets.
If you witness some irresponsible driver behaviour, call the Caloundra Police on (07) 5439 4444.
